ABOUT BARBARA



Barbara Lesser, designer of casual contemporary sportswear and dresses, launched a highly successful business based on her own desire to look good yet remain comfortable during her hectic life. Whether setting a new season’s color palette or rushing through her very active life, Lesser wants exactly what her customer has come to expect – comfort and ease of care in a beautiful, fashionable, feminine package. The Los Angeles based designer earned her BFA in Fashion Design from New York’s Pratt Institute. She began her career as a sweater designer and found herself traveling to Europe and Asia just a few months into her job. After working in New York for several years, the Michigan native headed west, taking a position with San Francisco Shirt Works and then with Esprit at the height of the company’s growth.



After a ten year stint as owners of Felicity, a updated sportswear company and then some time off for globe-trotting and quality family time, Barbara and her husband Mark were ready to get back to work and launched Wearable Integrity, Inc. The Lessers were pioneers in the field of environmentally responsible manufacturing and organic cotton. The apparel industry took them down an unpredictable path and they soon found themselves leading the way in the casual dress market. Riding the wave of a strong dress trend, Barbara carved a name for herself as a dress maven who truly understood the needs and desires of women of the ’90’s. As the dress cycle evolved, Mark had the foresight to launch a sportswear division called FIBERS by Barbara Lesser. Today, Barbara enjoys the acclaim that comes her way due to a sportswear collection that features artisan hand dye techniques in amazing color blends on T-shirts, dresses, pants and skirts. Most of the collection is made in California, defining the Lesser's as strong supporters of the "made in U.S.A." ideal.



Whatever the product, Lesser remains true to her devoted customer – the busy woman who wants fashion that is both cool and comfortable. MY REVIEW

I am normally do not take the time to write about how the items I receive to review are packaged unless they arrive in an unusual or exceptionally well manner. I have to say that receiving the 3 articles of clothing from Barbara Lesser for this review was a very memorable and most impressive experience! Each item came on its own hanger and had plastic wrap, like a dust cover, over them. I can't remember receiving any items so nicely hung before so I felt I should mention that this was a first class, 5 star experience right from the beginning!

I was sent 3 super terrific items to review. Each one will play an important role in sprucing up my Spring and Summer wardrobe this season. They will each work to add new life to what I currently have and add an element of whimsical styling that is missing from what I currently have. Let me share my thoughts with you about each item:

CHARMING TEE WITH LACE DETAIL



Feminine tee with artistic charm of lace detail down the sleeve and satin trim at the neckline.

MY THOUGHTS:  I received this breathtaking top the color Black.  It is made from the finest gauge cotton I have felt in a long time.  The cotton is soft, thick, and luxurious feeling, clearly fine quality material.  The style of this top is a little sexy and flirty, and gives new meaning to a plain black top!  The attention to detail in the artistic lace design all along the sleeves is so stunning that you will want to show this top off whenever you can for a variety of different types of occasions.

A lovely black top like this can be worn with the simplest of outfits, like a pair of jeans or shorts, or you can dress it up with a cute little skirt or dressy pair of slacks!  The versatility of this top is endless and you will find yourself wanting to wear it again and again!


THE DIP DYE FRINGE JACKET

MY THOUGHTS:  I love so many elements of this adorable jacket!  I am not sure which I like more, the flowing airy styling of this piece or the way it makes me feel young and carefree when I put it on and am wearing it!  Both are equally compelling!  You cannot appreciate the magnificent colors and material of jacket in the picture, because to behold it in your hands is a sight to be seen!  The jacket starts out being a classic taupe color at the very top gradually turning into white in the center and then finally turning a lovely shade of coral at the bottom of the jacket.  The colors are in perfect sync with one another to create this most unusual divine jacket.

The jacket has subtle trendy overtones, but maintains its classy simple elegance at the same time.  I love that about it.  I love the look of wearing this jacket with a pair of white jeans, but you can easily pair it with tan cargo pants, or a cute white or tan skirt, or just it as a little jacket on those cool spring and summer nights with cute little sun dresses and or shorts.  Again, this is the most versatile jacket, where you are only limited in what you can wear it with by your own imagination.  It is an artistic jacket, and will bring some spark and pizzazz to so many of the pieces that you have already in your wardrobe!


RUCHED SLEEVED V-NECK TEE



This new v neck tee with ruching detail down the sleeve is essential for Spring.

MY THOUGHTS:  I received this timeless top in the soft and pretty Banana color.  It is such a pretty color for spring and summer that will serve as that essential top because it matches just about everything I have in my wardrobe.  Again, this top is rendered in such fine gage material, so soft, plush and thick, a most decadent feeling against your skin.

This is a plain top, but there is nothing simple about it!  The ruching along the top of the sleeves makes it stand out from being anything but ordinary!  The detailing gives it a slightly dressier look, with a very elegant feminine flair!  I will wear this top with everything to jeans and slacks and shorts and capris, to pairing it with some of my favorite spring and summer skirts!  It will become one of my favorite "go to" tops and I can't wait for the warm weather to arrive so I can start wearing it!  It makes me feel so good about myself, because of the tailored fit is provides.
