Why Recycled Materials?

The Artist
Leonor Mendoza, founder and artist of Engage Green, is an award winning artist whose work is part of the Art Museum of the Americas permanent collection in Washington DC. Her sculpture, also made from recycled materials, has been featured in shows around the world. Dozens of private collectors have commissioned her pieces. Born in Venezuela, Ms. Mendoza currently lives in Brooklyn, New York."

Paper - Recycling Facts
1. Less trash in landfills means lower disposal costs and less polution from waste carting, as well as lowering the impact the discarded items themselves would have on the environment.

My REVIEW: Receiving an item from Engage Green is like receiving a special gift from the Green Earth Fairy God Mother! You know immediately when you open the package that inside is a product that is not mass produced from a factory, but instead expertly crafted from materials that could have ended up in a landfill but instead were recycled into a work of art that can be enjoyed and adorned for a second chance at life! Without hesitation I can say the Spanish Mosaic Lime Green Tote is spectacular in its exotic woven pattern, the functional styling and the meticulous manner with which it is rendered.
I love the functionality of this bag. It is the perfect size for carrying all of your typical necessities that one normally carries in a handbag. The inside compartment is wide open so you really see what is inside, and access your items easily and efficiently. It has a pocket that you can slip your cell phone into as well as a inside zippered compartment for storing keys, lipstick, you know all the things we want to have with us and often need to find easily in a hurry. The inside is lined very nicely with a color coordinating fabric to the outside of the bag that is light in color so it won't hide what you need to find inside when you most need it (dark color linings like black and brown always make finding things in your purse difficult for me).
Right away I noticed the unique way the outside of the bag felt. Rubbing my fingers against the beautifully woven spanish mosiac design felt in a word "unique". I have never experienced what a recycled paper woven fabric felt like before, and it felt organic, natural, crisp, fresh, a really magical feel from such a fabulous bag.
